What are chemical peels?

Chemical peels are professional treatments that use medical-grade exfoliants to dissolve the bonds between tired, surface skin cells. By safely lowering the skin’s pH for a controlled time, they stimulate rapid cell turnover and reveal fresher, smoother skin beneath. Depending on the formula, peels refine texture, soften fine lines, decongest pores, and brighten uneven tone. Common actives include gluconolactone, lactic and glycolic acids (AHAs) for radiance and hydration; salicylic acid (BHA) for congestion; trichloroacetic acid (TCA) for more corrective resurfacing; and retinoids to accelerate renewal.

Your practitioner will match the peel strength and depth to your skin type, with options suitable even for sensitive or higher Fitzpatrick skins. Most peels involve minimal downtime—often mild redness or light flaking—while stronger options may produce several days of visible shedding. For best, longer-lasting results, peels are typically performed as a short series and supported with tailored homecare

How does it work?

Here’s how a medical grade peel works. Your practitioner starts with a brief consultation, then cleanses and degreases the skin for even penetration. The peel is applied in controlled layers and timed while your skin is monitored. You may feel tingling or warmth. Depending on the formula, it is either neutralised or left to self neutralise. Skin is then soothed with targeted serums, finished with SPF, and you receive clear aftercare. Expect an instant glow, with light dryness or flaking over the next few days as old cells shed. Deeper options can peel from day 2 to 5. Add our hyaluronic mask for extra post peel hydration.
