non-surgical eye lift: plasma iq pen

Tired eyes, drooping upper lids, and fine lines around the eyes can make you look older and more fatigued than you feel. At Bravo Medical, our plasma pen eye lift offers a needle-free, incision-free way to tighten loose skin, lift hooded eyelids, and smooth under-eye wrinkles — without the downtime of surgical blepharoplasty.

Individual results vary from patient to patient. A full consultation is required before any treatment is recommended.

What Is a Plasma Pen Eye Lift?

Plasma pen treatment uses a fine device tip to generate a small electrical arc that makes contact with the skin’s surface. This creates tiny points of controlled thermal energy that cause the targeted tissue to instantly vaporise — a process known as sublimation. As the skin heals, it contracts and tightens, and collagen production is stimulated in the treated area.

Because the plasma arc never actually touches or cuts the skin, there’s no bleeding and no need for stitches, making this one of the least invasive options available for people who want the visible effect of an eyelid lift without going under the knife.

Who Is This Treatment For?

A plasma eye lift at Bravo Medical is commonly chosen by patients who want to address:

  • Hooded or heavy upper eyelids — excess skin folding over the crease, sometimes affecting vision or making eyes appear smaller
  • Loose, crepey skin under the eyes
  • Fine lines and wrinkles around the eye area, including crow’s feet
  • Vertical lip lines (commonly known as smokers’ lines)
  • A non-surgical alternative to blepharoplasty, particularly for patients who are not ready for — or not suitable candidates for — eyelid surgery

This treatment tends to work best on lighter skin tones (Fitzpatrick types I–III), as darker skin carries a higher risk of pigmentation changes after treatment. Suitability is always confirmed at consultation.

How the Treatment Works, Step by Step

  1. Consultation – A practitioner examines your eye area, discusses your goals, and confirms whether plasma pen treatment is right for you.
  2. Numbing – A topical anaesthetic cream is applied roughly 30 minutes before treatment to minimise discomfort.
  3. Treatment – Using the plasma device, tiny dots are applied along the treatment area. This typically takes 15–20 minutes.
  4. Aftercare guidance – You’re given instructions for the healing period, and any follow-up sessions are scheduled.

Most patients describe the sensation as warm tingling or light snapping rather than sharp pain, and the numbing cream keeps it comfortable for the majority of people.

What to Expect During Recovery

Because the skin’s outer layer is deliberately removed, some visible healing is normal:

TimeframeWhat’s typical
Day 1–2Swelling, redness, small dark dots at treatment sites
Day 3–5Scabbing begins to form and flake
Day 5–7Most scabbing has cleared; makeup can usually conceal residual pinkness
Up to 6 weeksFaint pink tone may linger in the treated crease, rarely noticeable to others

We recommend allowing a few days away from work or social commitments, particularly if the treatment area is visible and you’d prefer not to wear makeup over healing skin.

Because the plasma arc never actually touches or cuts the skin, there’s no bleeding and no need for stitches, making this one of the least invasive options available for people who want the visible effect of an eyelid lift without going under the knife.

How Many Sessions Will You Need?

  1. Results build gradually, and most patients need a short course of treatments spaced several weeks apart to allow the skin to fully heal and tighten between sessions. As a general guide:

    • Younger patients with minimal excess skin often see good results in 1–2 sessions
    • Patients in their 40s–50s typically need a course of 3–4 sessions
    • More significant hooding or excess skin may require additional sessions, or a consultation-led discussion about whether surgery would be more appropriate

Your practitioner will give you a personalised treatment plan at consultation rather than a one-size-fits-all number.

frequently asked questions

Is plasma pen treatment painful?

Most patients find it very tolerable thanks to the numbing cream applied beforehand. Expect warm tingling rather than sharp pain.

How is this different from surgical blepharoplasty?

Surgical blepharoplasty involves incisions and stitches to physically remove excess eyelid skin, usually under local or general anaesthetic, with a longer recovery. Plasma pen treatment achieves a similar tightening effect using thermal energy instead of a scalpel, with shorter downtime — though it's typically better suited to mild-to-moderate excess skin rather than significant hooding.

Can I wear makeup during recovery?

Once initial scabbing has settled — usually after 3–5 days — makeup can generally be used to cover any residual redness.

Is this treatment permanent?

Once excess skin is removed, it doesn't return in that specific area. However, skin will continue to age naturally over time, and further loosening can occur years down the line, just as it can after surgical blepharoplasty.

Am I suitable if I have darker skin?

Darker skin tones carry a higher risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation, so this treatment isn't typically recommended for Fitzpatrick types IV–VI. Your practitioner will assess this at consultation.

What's the difference between plasma pen and Plexr?

They use the same underlying plasma technology — Plexr and Plasma IQ are simply different device brands offering a comparable treatment.
